dailynewsCLINICIANS will be sporting smiles of glee with the announcement that Philips will be launching its Efficia suite of solutions in the country. The solutions that will bring these smiles will include patient monitors that will allow them to provide diagnosis, monitoring and therapy even in remote areas.

According to a statement from Philips, these solutions highlights commitment to enhance access and enable quality care across the health continuum – from healthy living and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment, recovery and home care, including in remote areas.

The statement said that effective patient monitoring can help improve diagnosis and provide earlier intervention, which is not only critical for improving patient outcomes, but can also help hospitals improve operational efficiencies.

“As we innovate to improve health care, monetary constraints should not be a reason for limiting access to the best care available for improving a patient’s health,” said Roelof Assies, the General Manager, Philips East Africa.

“The Efficia suite is designed to bring trusted and effective Philips technology and performance at an affordable price to the health care facilities where resource limitations have prevented this access before.”

The Efficia CM Series patient monitors provide the same core physiological measurements and algorithms that are present in other Philips patient monitors, but are designed to be more cost-effective and scalable to the needs of budget-constrained health care facilities.

The series, including Efficia CM100, Efficia CM120 and Efficia CM150, are solidly built and reliable, able to handle heavy workloads and electrostatic interference, and can be customized for a variety of patient types, acuity levels and clinical settings, and include an intuitive user-interface to ease the burden on busy clinician workflow.

To deliver quality care, clinicians need to make quick and informed decisions when responding to an emergency and caring for a patient across the entire course of treatment.

“Clinicians are constantly under pressure to meet clinical demands on a tight budget,” said Dr Juma Mfinanga, Head of Emergency Department at Muhimbili National Hospital, adding that the Efficia solutions work with the clinicians and the hospital, saying that they are affordable and intuitive, allowing limited staff to focus on care first.

The Efficia DFM100 defibrillator/monitor is designed to be easy to use for both basic and advanced life support care providers to meet the demands of patient care in pre-hospital and hospital environments effectively and consistently.

The Efficia DFM100 provides functionalities needed to enhance patient care, regardless of where they are located. It is also scalable to ensure affordability across all care settings.
