A local medical clinic that provides low-cost, high-quality medical care has expanded to try to stop a big problem in healthcare.
Stanton Road Clinic is affiliated with USA Health System. It’s been around for decades, but now the clinic has added staff to accommodate patients who would otherwise go to the emergency room for non-emergency medical problems. There are more nurses, more patient rooms, and same-day appointments available. Most appointments only cost $40.
Dr. Alana Schilthuis is the head of Internal Medicine. She says, “What we are trying to do is change the impression of, yes we may ask for a little up front, but we are going to give you your care at a lower cost than the ER.” Dr. Shilthuis adds that they treat patients regardless of whether they have insurance or not.
